Teacher Gifts

My kids were blessed with some AMAZING preschool teachers this year. So, to thank them for such a great school year, I painted these pots with chalkboard paint, and added a ruler border. I saw the idea all over pintrest, though I’m not sure who actually came up with the idea.

Then, I filled them with tulip cake pops. The tulips are fake flowers I got at Michaels. Each stem was a green tube, which held the cake pops perfectly!

Baseball Memories

This was my son’s first year playing T-ball.  I get such a kick seeing my little guy proudly dressed up in his baseball uniform. And I love that I have a great shot of him to remember his first year as a ball player.

My friend, Ashley, at {3:23} Photography, actually is the creative genius and came up with this idea. So I copied her:) I had a 16 x 20 picture printed, then I attached it to a canvas using mod podge. I also made one for a friend.

Hot Wheels Cake

My youngest turned 4 this month, and he chose a Hot Wheels birthday theme. Since the party was at a local tumbling place, there wasn’t much for me to do for this party, so I decided to go all out with the cake. Here’s what I came up with…

I’m pretty excited about the outcome. The bottom tier is a dummy Styrofoam round, that I covered with fondant. For the flames, I made two templates, then cut them out of fondant. I painted a red outline on all the yellow flames using vodka and red gel food color. The cake board is trimmed with checkered duct tape. Which also is very handy for decorating water bottles!! Check them out!

And the duct tape came in handy for my favors too. These are just plastic cups that I filled with candy, then placed a cupcake on top. Each cupcake is topped with a hot wheel. I tied a fork to each one so the kids could eat them right out of the cup…hopefully less mess!

The birthday boy loved his cake, and the party was a success (and SOOOO easy since it wasn’t at my house!!)

Angry Angry Birds

Ok, so I know it’s just angry birds, and not angry angry birds, but it’s what my boys call it. I think it’s like hungry hungry hippo. Anyway, my youngest is celebrating his 4th birthday at school today, and he picked out some angry birds cake balls. I think he liked that there were 6 different characters. I should have made him pick one, but no, I made them all. They were a ton of work! Here’s the crew!

I wasn’t too impressed with how black bird came out, so I left him off the cupcakes.
